“Little Mountain”
This nano aquarium was set up specifically to showcase the new
Tropica plant, Staurogyne sp. I wanted something simple and relatively
low-maintenance that didn’t need much pruning. The basic rock
composition suits the simple plant composition and layout.
I started with CO2 injection but swapped to dosing Easycarbo to
reduce growth rates, yet keep algae at bay. Tiny Oryzias sp.and vivid
shrimp bring the nano to life add an effective sense of scale.
50% water changes are performed twice per week with ½ ml TPN+ and
Easycarbo added with new water. Algae is non-existent except for the
occasionally glass clean. Plants require pruning once every 4 weeks or
so.
You can read more about this set up in the July 2008 issue of
Practical Fishkeeping magazine, or ask questions by visiting the UKaps
forum.
