First proper substrate

Hi guys, I'm ready to add the substrate to my new setup. Im using miracle grow potting compost and I'm adding vermiculite for nutrient storage and release.
I have other tanks but this is my first dirt tank.
In terms of order of activities what do I need to consider? Do I soak the miracle grow or do I just spray it with water as I add to keep it moist?
I'm adding limpopo sand as a cap and I'm considering a soil retainer..

Just get everything ready before hand. I had my tank in the garden initially when i was putting the soil in, mines only 60l though.

It can be messy but enjoy making the mud, I was told to mix it like a milkshake consistency which has worked well.

I was also told to keep the mud from hitting the sides so you have a trench running round where you can see to avoid algae growing - this has worked a treat.

Whats your water hardness like? my tap water is really soft so I had to add bone meal.

After you set it up, watch this...

and this

I hope this helps
