Fish ID please for this guy. :-)

Hi everyone
Saw this fish in a LFS. I love the yellow colour and the small size. It's was about maybe 4cm. I think it's a algae eater judging by its mouth.

Anyway can anyone please id this fish and what size will this guy grow up to.

That's a Chinese algae eater, and quite a malnourished one. They're often sold as "golden sucking loach".

They get quite aggressive as they get older, and they stop eating algae after a couple of years. They are often mis- sold to people as a good, small algae eater. They are not a community fish.

I found this out the hard way when I had to re- home "Mr. Hungry" about two years ago. One of my all- time favourite fish. They have so much character. But they are not suited to a peaceful community.

Thanks for your reply. Heard quite fair bit of bad reviews of this fish. Won't do in my tetra tank.
