Would like to get some opinions on a suitable lighting system for a 150gal low tech aquarium. Planning only to add ferts so a low light system would be good.
The gap i have for a fitting is 1030mm long and 110mm high. No major restriction on width but under 300mm would be good. Tank is around 24inches deep.
Was thinking maybe a LED light. maybe marineland or something similar. How many watts per gallons should i aim for? I hear the waat per gallon rule doesn't work brilliantly for large tanks. Currently only got a 39watt single tube over the tank.... have considered just rigging 1 or two of these however:
4ft Twin 28w Non Corrosive HF Weatherproof Fluorescent Fitting - IP65
They would fit in my canopy and not be visible. However an easy comercially available aquarium light with some features is appealing!!!
Plan is to make a long term indoniasian community... rainbows, loaches, pearl danios.. with hardy but attractive low maintanience plants. ferns, java moss, crypts, anubias etc...
Cheers in advance.
