Painting a Luminaire

Has anyone ever resprayed an over tank luminaire a different colour? Im considering spraying my 600mm arcadia as its a little scratched and I've just finished a dark grey DIY ADA cabinet so think a black light would look better but don't want to mess it up.

as long as you sand and prime it before hand you should be fine if its plastic use something like plasticote spray primer and if its metal use a hammerite style metal paint or radiator paint
