hi all

I;ve read up on this and theres mixed opinions! whats your opinion please!
ive not posted my actual tank before, just read other peoples questions
so here is mine, this is by far the worst part of it
as you can see its not in where the glass touches but not far off it,
its unsightly i know but is this a structural issue with this?
its been there for years, a lot of people say its fine on the post ive read elsewhere
its a 6mm old clearseal tank with braces, so its not thick glass at all
its a 36 x 12 x 15,
i really dont want to reseal it unless its really necessary
ive a load of plants in tubs ready to go into it
will keeping an eye on it suffice?

many thanks!

I'd say you're ok for now, but keep an eye out; as soon as it starts infringing on where the glass touches, is where I'd be looking at remedial action.

thanks aqua

im confident that it will be fine in the short term, i assume if anything happens it will be a tiny leak
theres no way it could cause a major failure surely?
ill probably replace the tank in a few months anyway, its done its time and is a bit of a crappy shape
being only 12" (91cm) front to back, its just not feasible at the moment as it will be a custom made job

thanks again

I've got it just under the lips of the silicone. It hasn't gone further in two years that I've had the tank. Just don't be tempted to dig deep to get it out with any implement, else you'll separate the silicone further from the glass and the algae will creep in more.

I wouldn't say you'll suffer a sudden massive breach if it goes all the way, if anything it will be a tiny leak to begin with. You're not going to lose an entire side of the tank, especially if it is braced at the top.
