Hey guys,
My tank (140L) is 6 weeks old with a few plants. I’ve been dosing Tropica specialist fertiliser (5 pumps a week). I’m wanting to get an Amano.

One thing that dawned on me thanks to something said on a YouTube video was about copper and iron. Tropica’s site does state the fertiliser contains iron.
Anyone use this fertiliser with shrimp?

Secondary question, how on earth would I detox the tank of Iron for a shrimp to safely live in the tank?

thanks in advance,
Martin

The iron in most fertilizers is chelated and unharmful for invertables. Even soft chelated fertilizers such as the Aqua Rebell Micro Flowgrow is unharmful.
Many hobbyists are dosing iron and micros in tanks were several hundred $$ worth of shrimps are living - no issues.

When doing the showtanks for Tropica, to exibit at InterZoo , I often dose 10 times the recommended dose on bottle. In these tanks Amano shrimps and Cherry shrimps are allways used in plenty, to combat any algae, that might occur. There have never ever been any issues with shrimp in these tanks.
Some of the tanks, and info about them, can be seen on Tropica inspiration, at Tropica homepage.
- hope this is answer to your question: The Tropica fertilisers are safe to use with the commonly used shrimp types. I can not guarantee safety of exceptionally sensitive types of shrimp, though - such must be researched individually.

thanks in advance,
Martin
