Good Morning everyone, I hope you are all staying safe and well during these troubled times.
Some of you might remember my journal, The Full Monty.
I think the last time I was on here was October 2019. The reason for that is that I stopped keeping plants and went off on a mission to breed Wild Iripixi Royal Discus Fish. I bought eight of them in November 2018 and took a long time selecting them to try and get a mix of males and females.
I was very fortunate and ended up with 4 males and 4 females. Even better they all paired off eventually, and since then I have successfully bred all of the pairs with lots of healthy F1 Wild Juveniles.
But with so many pairs breeding it has been difficult to find the space to allow them to continue breeding and rear all of the offspring.
So I've made the tough decision to sell three of the pairs, and the F1's. One pair sold already and 50 of the F1's. As soon as the other two pairs are sold, I plan to go back to a planted tank with just one mated pair in the 400 litre Eheim Incpiria Aquarium.
A friend of mine in Denmark has achieved this with great success and her work is amazing. I am sharing some of her photographs on here to give you an idea of the things she has done, and what I hope to replicate. I will also post some photographs of my Wild Discus and their offspring.
One of the things I am going to need for the hardscape are some large pieces of bogwood as can be seen in the photographs. But I have never found anything like them in the UK.
Any suggestions welcomed..
If anyone is interested in the F1's please send enquiries via personal message only.
Enjoy the photographs, and any questions, please ask.
Best regards,
Steve
