Ello ello. So I couldn't stay away for too long. My first iwagumi tank failed miserably, think it was because it was in a big tank, doing WCs started to become a chore and I lost love for it.

But I'm back using my old hospital tank. Its only a 60 litre tank so doing a 75% WC only takes about 15/20 mins. I can live with that. Lol.

Here are a few pics of the tank. Running it as a low tech so just a normal LED light unit, small external filter and running no C02. Has Tropical soil in there and dosing TNC.

And then gave it its first proper trim and added 8 Ammano shrimp

Hi all,

Obviously good plants to start off with, but they look like they are in active growth and they haven't shed their old leaves etc.

cheers Darrel
Thats right bud. There are loads of new leaves coming through where I have cut the stems and they look pretty healthy so far. Fingers crossed I can keep them healthy. Lol

So first little issue come across, scum forming on the surface. I remove the layer at the start of every WC but by the end of the 2nd day after, there's a thick film back on top.
My mate @Jason harris is giving me his spare skimmer lily pipe inlet pipe so I'm gonna attach that to the inlet hose to try and help with it. It gets thick really quick and isn't pretty

So the skimmer has been running for 2 days now and the film on top hasn't got any better. I removed the sponge that came with it and replaced it with filter wool. See if this will make a difference

And thanks to @Andrew Butler for sending me out the DD jump guard, real easy to fit.
