I've finally bought an ADA Mini M, a tank I've wanted to use since my first post on here over a decade ago. I remember seeing a tank that Victor Lantos had 'scaped in PFK (I think a George Farmer article?) and I have wanted to try one ever since.Fast-forward ten years and I now have desk space to try one. I have based it on a tank that I have recently seen on Instagram as it hides/will hide the Dennerle corner filter well. I do have some Cal Aqua nano lily pipes that I could use down the line with a small external, but we'll see how it goes.
I have planted it with:
Pogostemon helferi
Bucephalandra kedagang
Anubias petite
Hydrocotyle tripartita
Eleocharis acicularis (mini)
and Monte Carlo
I plan on keeping a small group of Celestial Pearl Danios and some cherry shrimp. Nothing too complicated and nothing high-tech. There will be no CO2 and I will be dosing daily Easycarbo and weekly Tropic Specialised Nutrition after water changes. There is no temperature control at the moment, I am planning on monitoring it over winter and see how it goes. For my target species this should be perfectly comfortable for them.
The tank is lit by a single Twinstar LED Light B 300 on a WiFi timer. I know this is the bottom of their line, but this is the first time I have used a dedicated plant light and the colour rendition is a world away from other lights I have used. A total bargain at £35 too!
I'll update this journal as the tank evolves over (hopefully) many, many months. Although not my first ADA tank (I bought a 20C a couple of months ago), it felt so special to open an ADA Mini M, ADA mat, ADA thermometer, ADA Amazonia after years of wanting this setup.
Let me know your thoughts!
