I don't have the patience for aquascaping or hardscaping and basically threw the plants into the cube on this basis of how tall they may grow :) - big at the back small at the front then let nature take its course. My aim was to put it together as cheaply as possibly using either plants to hand or those which are budget friendly. Same with the livestock which I sourced from friends.

Photo taken 4 days after planting.

Unless it's cold where you live you could even try without heater? Looks nice :)
Thanks for the feedback. I really on put the heater in for the fish. It drops to about 16c at night where I live.
