    Stainless Steel Diffuser Rusts

Cheers for the suggestions guys, I'll have a closer look this weekend and see if I can work out which bit has actually corroded. I fear it may be the inside of the tube though, I think the problem is that in the high acidic environment caused by the CO2 the corrosion is amplified so any...

    Stainless Steel Diffuser Rusts

I bought a stainless steel diffuser off ebay a couple of weeks back thinking it would be the answer to me breaking so many glass ones. It arrived and was lovely, looked good, ok quality and the replaceable ceramic discs were a plus! I got it all installed and it produced beautiful little...

    Re-using a bath...

It's a steel bath so I think it'll be fine, the enamel might give up eventually but I'm not that worried about cosmetics! I like the idea of a rockery bit in the bath, hadn't thought of that, might have to see what I can do, though I don't want to do too much as it will reduce the volume...

    The upgrade!

Ok, so I'm still alive, I'm still keeping fish and I still have a high tech tank... sort of! We're in the process of renovating the kitchen diner so the tank has moved to the only other space in the flat - the bathroom. Poorly taken, with water spots all over and cucumber fishing lines but...

Where to get CO2 Cannisters and Refills

Hi Geaves, I work at a uni and BOC were my backup plan if I couldn't find an option locally. In the end I didn't investigate them fully as I get mine from calor gas as it's easier on an ad-hoc basis and not that expensive. It'd be good to know if anyone does contact them as they might be an...

    Re-using a bath...

It wasn't actually a typo, from all I'd read I'd been under the impression that if I wanted to pump the water out, up and back in again it would have to be quite a substantial. Maybe I've done some calcs wrong though...

    Re-using a bath...

I've come to the conclusion that I'll need a pump which can work dry/inline, connect to 40mm pipes and shift about 2000lph at a head of about 30cm! Oh, and it'd be nice if it didn't cost me the earth to run! Any suggestions gratefully accepted, I'm still searching as I've not really seen...

    Re-using a bath...

Super post Martin, very helpful. I guess a balancing pond is what my parents and sister have (parents have a bath sister has an old water tank). Ok, the plan was to pump a waterfall made from the sink with it probably going via a filter. So if I put the sink above the bath at the opposite...

    Unknown Invert ID required

:D Excellent, that's exactly what they are, there was I hoping I had baby mussels! Right, now I know they're safe I can put some cherry shrimp across into this tank. :)

About 2mm long these guys have a hard shell and small antennae from one end. They are independent movers, sometimes by picking up the current other times in a more determined manner but I've as yet to work out how. Other occupants in the tank are some Malaysian trumpet snails, some tubifex worms...
