I have a bright blue powerhead which sticks out like a saw thumb. Is there any paint that is aquarium safe, would ideally like to paint it black to match the backround. I cant really cover it in plants as the intake needs regular cleaning. Any ideas?

I have an idea of using an IV (drip) bag hung on the back of the aquarium. They normally have two ports, so will use one as an inlet for an airpump and the other as an outlet. By hanging the bag on the back of the aqauarium, the head wont be a problem. The only problem I have is where to find...

You're right on both accounts. They sell mostly marine fish and they supply me with RO water. I'll start using tap water and dechlorinator...see how I get on. It was suggested to me by my lfs that I might want to start using ro water as then I would be starting off with pure water instead of trying to remove substances. The only sensitive inhabitants are the cherry shrimp. Think I should just go ahead and use tapwater?
