    Rio Negro biotope

Yep, collected wood looks brill I think. I have some bits of Beech in my tank, with the discus, but it is starting to drop to bit and I need some more.

    Rio Negro biotope

Hi George, just wondering if you know what the species of the wood is and what you did to it before you put it in the tank.

Helpage would be most certainly appreciated.

Right, i've just checked a diagram for an electronic balast - I wish I hadn't! anyway, sems I've been getting some things upside down and havn't spent much time thinking... So, a simple T5 starter should be fine. <<shuffles back under the 'thick' rock>>

I think i may have confused you. I don't want to add anything to the original luminaire, as in bolt anything to it etc, just have an extrat tube or two over te tank. I'd place them behind the luminaire so as not to spoil the aesthetics. But I don't understand what I'm looking at, if you get me...

Helpage would be most certainly appreciated.

Hi folks, ok I'm in need of replacing my tubes. i'm using an Arcadia OT luminaire (It's old style and is T8). This thing is 3 tubes staggered. Now I've decided on the tubes I want to use for this but here is the thing. I think I may need a bit more light so I wanted to add a T5 tube. So if we...

DIY Project DIY Reactor - pictures, assembly and testing

Hi guy long time no pst, been lurkin' a bit though. Just wondering how this little Massive project is coming along, as I've been intrigued from the start. I think I need something like this for my 400l, as the POS diffuser I have is not up to task I think. One of those aquamedic things. Ta...

    'S 'appenin wid me greens?

Ok, first I'll address the flow and see what I can do. If there is no improvement then I'll adjust the level of co2. Thanks for the help.

    'S 'appenin wid me greens?

When you say poor co2, I presume you mean at a low level? Not in the actual quality of the co2. :) It could be the flow then, as it is quite low. I used to use a spraybar under the water surface, but i can't fit it to this diffuser I'm using. FYI I didn't have the bar splashing into the water...

    'S 'appenin wid me greens?

Hi folk, not posted in a while, sorry. So, i'm experiencing a bit of a prob. tank stats first... pH 7- 7.5, gh7, kh4 nitrate 25ppm. Rio 400, co2, E.I. dosing as per nutri calc, but half dose as i'm not heavily planted. If you need any other info let me know and I'll sort it out. The prob: On the...

    Something Killing off my fish...

Hi, if it was worms, the fish would become thin, but the stomach/gut area would slightly swell. I'd be inclined to go with a bacterial problem. I'd treat the rest of the fish with a broad antibiotic.

    James3200s 6.5x2x2' planted tank - UPDATE - 26/06/09

Re: James3200s 6.5x2x2' planted tank - Discus now in Well, that is pretty! Only thing I'd say is for a tank that size you could double the amount of discus, though that might not be the best for the overall balance. I'd definately get 4 more myself. Congrats though!!!

    Alge

Hi ceg. I agree, the liquid test kits are a pile of droppings - elephant. I also agree that nitrate does not contribute to algea in itself, but more of an inbalance of nutrients. My desicion to stop dosing nitrate was because my source water is reading at 5ppm (I was quite shocked at this) with...

    Alge

It is a pain in the pipe yes. I've not seen it before in my tanks ever. I tested the nitrate the other day, was up there in the 80ppm range - not sure, I hate these colour test kits. Any way, I'm effecting WC every two days to get it back down to normal levels of around 25ppm. I'm only going to...

    Alge

k, I have a problem. The stuff is quite long, but not so long to call it thread algea, but longer than BBA, growing up to an inch or so. It is dark coloured. Any ideas as to what to do with it? Why it is there etc... In the meantime I'll get some water stats and some photo's. Cheers, Ivan.
