    Another DIY reactor.

all connected with no leaks and c02 is rising and collecting at the top as its designed to. how do i know if the c02 is dissolving should i be getting very fine bubbles out of the filter return? i have a few but not as many as i did with my glass diffuser. does it take a while to get working...

    Another DIY reactor.

when i changed the c02 connection i had to re glue it and i didn't allow enough tine for the glue to harden properly. I`m going to do a pressure test before i connect it to my filter this time.

yes it makes perfect sense, i put it in the wrong place and had to change it today. when i connected it to my filter it leaked and had to be stripped down, dried out and repaired. i`m now waiting for the glue to dry before attempting to connect it all up again tomorrow.

i`m no expert on this but not all of the gas is co2 and you might be adding c02 faster than it can dissolve. somebody with more experience might be able to explain better. I think i saw something in one of the other posts about diy reactors. give it a go all of my bits i got from the high...

    Another DIY reactor.

the reason for the screw thread is its the only way i could find to reduce it down to 19mm for my fluval filter to fit.its designed to fit in the tank cabinet so the 90 at the bottom means the pipe wont be kinked and i can have a longer reactor, the tee at the top collects any undissolved gases...

    Another DIY reactor.

I wanted to have a go at building myself a reactor so I thought i would have a go at doing it with parts available from the high street. Here is a list of what i needed and the cost. 1m of 1.1/2" waste pipe £3.82 2 of 3/4"x1.1/2" overflow...

it might sound stupid but are you putting the ptfe on in the right direction? or is there a small sharp edge cutting the ptfe as you screw it together?

    questions on DIY reactor

Thank you both for the excellent answers and advise, it`s all been made perfectly clear to me now. yes the rena 450 is 450 ltrs. as i have a selection of different filters i will go with the biggest then, so that i get plenty of flow, the one i will use is the 505. I like Ed`s idea of adding the...

    questions on DIY reactor

I want to build myself an in line external reactor and I would like to ask some questions so i know I`m doing it right. what length does it need to be? I will be using 1 1/2 pipe. Will a fluval 105 be big enough to run it on a rena 450? Is the reactor best fitted on the filter inlet or outlet...

    DIY Project My DIY Reactor

thanks for the reply. in the past on diy experiments i`ve found that you can use washing machine tails to connect hoses too or in some cases it`s possible to use hozelock garden hose connectors on some of the threaded fittings . Just as long as the c02 wont affect the solvent weld type. I`ve...

    DIY Project My DIY Reactor

Hi all Happy new year. Whats the reason for using the grey pipe? I would like to give this reactor a go for my rena 450 . I have loads of the white waste pipe and fittings in 1 1/2 would this be effected by the c02 and break down?

    3 tier stand

that looks good, just what I had in mind. Thats the beauty of wood it can be altered as your needs change. well done for squeezing in the extra tanks.

    3 tier stand

that's the design i`m after. just wanted to confirm on the timber sizes. If you have done it with 3x2 then 2x4 should be ample. many thanks for your help.
