    Very flexible tubing

Slowing down the flow hasn't been something that I have aimed to do but if I wanted to, I could add more media (my canister isn't completely filled) which would definitely give a reduction on flow.

    Very flexible tubing

I reckon if you fill the canister tightly with media, it would reduce the flow sufficiently. I use a 2211 on my 14l cube nano and it isn't overpowered at all. I also made my own inlet/outlet using clear acrylic pipe as I couldn't be bothered with the fragility and expense of glassware, here's...

    Do I need these Files

It's potentially unsafe to mess with files in the winsxs folder, here's a an explanation http://www.ghacks.net/2010/07/24/the-wi ... explained/

    ** EI Dosing Calculator **

Good effort, there's also the nutricalc program that does a similar thing, even translating the dosage into teaspoons if you don't want to mix the powders into a solution. http://www.cherniaksoftware.com/homepag ... riCalc.exe

    Which regulator?

A JBL reg and solenoid would set you back anywhere north of £140 brand new as they are vastly overpriced. At that price though it's a bit of a bargain...

    Which regulator?

Found this on aquarist classifieds... http://www.aquarist-classifieds.co.uk/p ... 125863.php Might be worth a go if it's still for sale as it's a known reg and it's a decent price.

    Which regulator?

Also, the seller states that the cylinders will be emptied for delivery (unless you can collect) so it'll work out more expensive in the end than a 2kg extinguisher (which would be delivered full) once you factor in a refill.

    External CO2 reactor

Good to know, as you say, it's a bit strange that no retailers mention this seeing as it's possibly the biggest stumbling block to anyone using filters with 16/22mm piping.

    External CO2 reactor

Also, isn't the AM1000 12/16mm hosetails? You'd have to buy extra parts to step down from 16/22mm hoses and I'm assuming there would be a slight impact on flow as well. Then again, you could probably just build the hosetails up with PTFE tape or something I suppose, but either way I still...

    External CO2 reactor

Awesome, cheers for the comprehensive breakdown of what's needed, think I'll start gathering bits to make one soon. Expect some posts regarding assembly when I do!
