This is kinda a technique I just made up on the fly looking at your images, but this is what I did and just really relates to grainy images. 1. from filters, "select convert to smart filter" (This allows you to adjust filters after you have applied them ) 2. from filters go to "noise" then...

    Canon 6D

Built with pipe clips, shower rails and bike handle bars, does a perfect job and saves several hundred £. Get yourself a DSLR, a copy of FCPX and After effects and make some films you, seems to be lacking in the aquatics culture.:)

Ahh 40D that kinda explains it, I sold my dad my old Nikon D40 that was only 6MP or something, it was an amazing camera and with the right lens took some amazing pics, but when it came to low-light it was a nightmare, sensors have moved on a long way in the last 6 years.

No trying to plagiarise you but i spent a few mins doing a few tweeks, could do 100 times better using the original image, the thing with noise is that it is mainly apparent in the darker areas of contrast, so in photoshop you can de-noise the image, then by cmd+click on the strongest channel...

Thats strange so what camera were you using, where you shooting in RAW? did they look grainy before processing? Strange that they would have that much noise if the ISO wasn't pushed.:)

    Canon 6D

£1300 is a good price, so slick for video it's unreal, I mostly use the 5Dmk2 to shoot video. recently built a shoulder rig with follow focus that dramatically improves video quality, as although they are as good as £10,000 worth of video cameras in a lot of cinematic ways, they are not great...

Yeah beautiful shots just shame about the noise, what ISO were you shooting at, at a guess I would say that due to the low light you were pushing the ISO a little far, and should of just compensated with a slower shutter whilst keeping the aperture high in order to keep everything well within...

Small interesting/unusual fishes - suggestions wanted

Sorry couldn't help myself, just wanted to share a couple of pics of my new dwarf puffers, got them yesterday and they are great little fish. They have taken up residence in my moss tree and use it as a nest. Image quality is a bit poor as I have my DSLR out on loan so these were snapped with my...

    cheap substrate in London £20

Yes but thats not really the same thing is it¿¿¿ Most people on here go and spend £35 a bag on ada's finest, which is comparative to Oliver Knott's which is usually even more expensive.

Small interesting/unusual fishes - suggestions wanted

I agree dwarf puffers are nice I have just got some myself yesterday, however I think most people would agree that 6 is far too many for a 60l tank, more like 2-4 max.
