    Aquarium cabinet search

Thanks for nice replies! The boards are 33mm thick and I used Colron antique pine stain to colour and bring out the grain and then a couple of coats of teak oil to protect the wood.

    Aquarium cabinet search

Over the festive holidays, I made a new cabinet for my Juwel Vision 180 from reclaimed Scaffold boards and bought some IKEA BESTA doors/hinges for it. The tank is about 18 years old and the old stand was pretty tatty looking (was never really taken with the 'beech effect' anyway) I did this as...

incase a hose pops off and floods your house.....

That is proper sketchy! Turning the filter off wouldn’t stop your tank from draining anyway, gravity would do this (unless your filter and pipe work is all above the tank) The simplest solution would be to make sure that your intake and outtakes are just below the waterline, that way if...

    Juwel heliolux

Just a wee update, got the controller last weekend and I’m much happier now that’s its all set up :)

    Juwel heliolux

The Smart control arrived today and is DOA so will need to go back. It also seems very basic for what it is - I got similar functionally for free with the 5m WiFi led lights I bought from amazon for £15. The Juwel light + controller was a really expensive purchase, really starting to doubt its...

    Juwel heliolux

I recieved the helilux 920 for a vision 180 this week, the controller hasn’t arrived yet so I’m just operating as a standard light unit for now. First impression is that the lights don’t seem very bright at all, the difference between the T5s that have been replaced is very noticeable.

    CO2 diffuser (aquamedic)

Hi folks, I'm hoping someone can help me out here - I have the aquamedic co2 diffuser and would like to increase its performance by using the bleed valve to feed the excess build up of co2 back into the outflow pipe of the filter (which the diffuser is connected to). At the moment, I don't...

    Aquamedic 1000

I'm considering getting one of these for my 180Liter tank, I'm just a little bit concerned it might be overkill. The product info says it can be used on tanks as large as 2000 liters so I'm wondering if there would be any downsides to using it on a smaller tank like mine?

Algae starting to form, ID needed

Have you tried using Excel? You don't need to go crazy with the dosage even if you have a bad infestation - it will just take longer to clear if you use smaller dosages. Also, do you use a specific reference solution for your CO2 checker or just tap water?

    Green Film on Surface

Ever since I added pressurised CO2 i've been plagued with surface scum. I have a 180L Juwel tank which runs with both its original internal filter coupled with an exteral eheim 2324 so I'd be really surprised if this problem has anything to do with filtration. I use EI dosing and do weekly 50%...

What do you do with fish that you no longer want?

Grosvenor Tropicals outside Belfast used to take fish from you and give you half the money they sold them for. Not sure they took any old fish, I sold a few breeding pairs of Angels and Apisto's through them in the past.
