    Tubing popping off bubble counter

Hi Halley, I had the same issue but my tubing was being connected to the needle valve of my regulator and not a bubble counter. I was using silicone tubing at the time. I switched to regular tubing and it has been fine ever since. All the best.

Canister filters for planted nano shrimp tank

Hi Dantrasy, Did you have to modify the outlet vent in anyway to avoid the shrimp (or shrimplets as in my case) being sucked onto it? I would love to know how you went about it as I am thinking of going down this route as I'm not getting a good flow with my Eheim corner filter set up. Thanks in...

    Water for EI mixing

So funny...I never said my water has algae in it mate. I only suggested boiling to make the water 'sterile' once it's sufficiently cooled and in the bottle and the lid on then it's fine...OK so I may have wrong about the reason for boiling water right? However its information which I got from...

    Water for EI mixing

I just use boiled water for my mix as suggested on the YouTube demo on my supplier's (APFUK). I believe it's more to stop it going green from algae afterwards. Hint: If your tap water is high in nitrates you may want to consider reducing that macro when you make up the solution :)

    Fish identification required

These are not mine, I spotted it in an LFS planted/display tank. I took the pics as I was browsing but forgot to ask and was unable to go back there, hence the post. But thanks for the insight, if I do decide to go for them I will follow your advise about keeping them in a group as I do have a...

    Fish identification required

Hi all, I changed upon this algae eater but failed to ask the all important question before I left the site  Would anyone be kind enough to assist me in it's identification? Apologies for the blurry images. Many thanks...

    Snail Problem

You're welcome Costas, I honestly cannot comment on the dosage of Flubendazole. To be honest when I started out in this hobby in 2009 I ran into all kind of problems, algae, pests etc. I never achieved any any long term success by dosing my tank with chemicals. I only started getting results...

    Snail Problem

Hi Costas, The solution is simple...just get yourself a couple of assassin snails. I have had these useful predators in my community tank for years and have no problem with them. They are active hunters with a voracious appetite and will hunt down these pest snails in no time. So you're probably...

    Co2 advice

What about your timing too? I used a DIY set up once with a regular (nano) diffuser but I turned it on two hours before the tank lights came one, didn't really care about the BP/s rate because I couldn't control that with a yeast system. However following this regime (and switching off at dusk)...

    Help: Improving My Tank

Hi, I think everyone here has touched on most of the problems you raised. I just wanted to touch on the algae issue you had and suggest (if you haven't) that you add Malaysian trumpet snails (MTS) to your tank; these snails will make short work of some algae. They are also good for the...
