If there is no 'going bad' with the 4dkh solution what could be the cause of the drop checker mixture showing constantly yellow as explained in the original post? Could it be the PH reagent that's at fault?
Guys,
Problem is that the Drop Checker is now constantly showing yellow. I use the 4 dkh solution from AE which is normally changed every other water change (fortnightly) but this last change it went from blue to green after a few hours (as normal) and remained green for about 3 days but then...
Hi,
I recently purchased a Hydor Koralia 1 Pump to increase the flow however, my Cherry Shrimps are bent on committing suicide by crawling inside the pump and being chopped up. Does anybody else experince this problem?
Any ideas on how to stop the shrimp getting inside gratefully received.
I've got 3 MAs close by: Fareham, Havant and Chicester. The've all improved lately especially with the addition ofTropica plants. The one in Fareham is the newest and has the 3m tank reviewed by George. It had a problem (power cut) a few weeks ago but is now on the road to recovery. The...
Okay guys, using your valued advice I've moved the CO2 diffuser slightly so that the flow is not obstructed by the taller plants (Echinodorus 'Ozelot Green'). The spray bar (by trial and error) has been moved slightly higher to agitate the surface a bit more and have had to increase the CO2...
I've tested the GM and KH with the following results: GM 11dH and KH 14dH with PH 7.2. Testing my tap water gives me the same results. Puzzled :? about PH as I thought that would be a little lower given the CO2 injection.
So, I've still not removed the surface scum with the remaining water...
Rudedog - Interesting thought regarding the hardness.
CO2 is lime green and not sure I can increase any further. Flow now appears to be fine but scum reappears within two or three days of a water change. I'll test for GH/KH tonight.
As ever, thanks for the replies. Although using a skimmer initially appears to clear the problem I'd like to find the root cause. There must be some reason why it appeared. :? I'll increase CO2 as much as possible and look at the flow patterns again.
I'll get back to with a progress report.
Hi,
Once again I'm looking to UKaps members for advice...sorry! Forgive me I'm still learning about this great hobby.
Problem: for some reason a film of green algae suddenly appeared last week on the top of the water; only obvious by looking up from beneath the surface. The remainder of the...
Guys,
Have made a few minor adjustments to the spraybar postioning and the inlet is now same end as the spraybar and will see what happens. The CO2 diffuser is postioned underneath the spraybar and last night most of the plants were pearling nicely.
