Something with copper in would kill them, Panacur did a pretty good job on some MTS I had when I was trying to treat planaria and didn't check what would happen to the snails.

That's a great post and thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am interested in these as they seem a good combination between a self sustaining population that can breed in fresh water and being slow breeding enough that you don't get plagues of them like with ramshorns or pond snails.

Brilliant, thanks! My desk tank is a 25l cube I got from Aquarium Gardens and I am thinking of upgrading to a larger size. It's refreshing to see a tank available in the UK!

I use that plastic egg crate diffuser, I am not sure that this would spread the load very much at all so I would be worried about point loading 6mm glass like that.

I am probably going to get shot down in flames for this but I don't worry too much about feeding. I have two colonies of red neos and one of PRL Caridina and, when the tanks were quite new (

Other people will have other opinions, that's just what I do, but I can't see the harm if you regularly monitor parameters.

I don't. After the tanks are properly established I just top up with RO water as and when. Obviously I still monitor parameters but they stay very stable, Shrimp produce very little waste.

Absolutely. I have three tanks and maintenance is really only tidying up the plants and keeping on top of the water. Between the shrimps and a few nerites I have barely any algae so there is very little to do.
