    Does anyone know?

Black Slate, or something to similar effect. For a visual representation of what i would like, or am trying to find its closest possible match here is a link. At 0:06 of this 1:18 long video it shows black slate. Where the devil do i find such slate. I myself am in the Coventry area of the West...

T5 or T8s - whats best for me

After some quick scouting around i've found some Hagen GLO T5HO x2 39W (91cm) light units for about £65-70. Even without the bulbs the pricing is about right so it looks like i've found my light unit. One or two members on another forum (TFF) have brought up the issue of algae in my tank under...

T5 or T8s - whats best for me

That T5 unit looks the same as my 2ft Hagen GLO x2 24W T5, is it the same jsut a bigger version. The rpcie throws me off, obviously its without the bulbs which i'll have to add and that'll bump the price up a little...but it still seems aloit cheaper than if i was to buy a 4ft Hagen GLO T5HO...

T5 or T8s - whats best for me

Thank you George, coming from you that is very convincing to hear :) Being a Jack Dempsey tank its only going to be a shallow sand bedding, so naturally i'm a little concerned any swords i have may have some difficulty rooting in properly. Although i have an existing mature running filter +...

T5 or T8s - whats best for me

Basically thats the dilema, do i go with T5's or T8's over my tank. The tank is a custom built ND Aquatics 4ft 61G. Measurements are 48"x22"x16" (LxHxW). The tank itself will be home to my breeding Jack Dempsey cichlids with the male being the Electric Blue strain. I plan on this being a South...

    3ft Bogwood + Anubias tank

Might sound daft. Any particular technique to apply the bleach onto the wood? Sounds daft even typing that but with bleach i'm really quite terrified. Bleach gives me the heebijeebies :P I'm thinking bleach+water solution 1:10 ratio applied with either a pippete, small brush, or just pour it in...

    Q40

You mentioned Shirley said Earlswood has a better selection of shrimp? How is your HC faring? Is it still sending out runners or reaching for the light?

    Crypts deformed ?

I would say CO2 for the reason being mine grew small and shrivelled without any injected into the tank, then a week or two after i started dosing ferts and CO2 it doubled in size height and width, with the leaves being stunningly vibrant colour. They look almost leathery :)

How to prepair a planted tank for a while on holiday?

I've only tried low tech set-ups so i can't speak from experience to well here but the most troublefree solution i would suggest is have a well informed neighbour/family member carry out your usual routine. Being advisable to have the routine written down near the tank simply too :) Whenever i...
