    need help with my sump

Ok, a bit more analysis. I've made some assumptions as follow 1 - Your tank height including stands is 1.5m 2 - The pump is running at 100% Your main tank is ~600 litres. Taking into account the head on the pump, you'll be getting 6000l/h The main open drain will flow ~18000l/h running fully...

    need help with my sump

@warriors Just for clarity could you confirm the function of each pipe in the weir photo, and also the role of the four pipe in the picture showing the right hand end of the sump. The idea with a Bean overflow is that all the control is done using the gate valve, which is on the primary drain...

    Oase BioMaster Thermo External Filter

@DrPhilG Can you provide more details of your sump setup, drains & weir configuration. People can then probably help out, probably best as a new thread.

AQUARIUM WITH BUILT IN FILTRATION COMPARTMENT

The key thing here is that you've actually tested it too many people don't. You might want to think about putting the return pump on a float switch, in the event that there's not enough water in the return section to prevent it getting burnt out.

AQUARIUM WITH BUILT IN FILTRATION COMPARTMENT

Using the diagram from @Andrew Butler the pump chamber is 9l of water, you need to be able to hold this in the main tank in the event that the inlet blocks, which means that the water surface needs to be 2.1cm from the top of the tank to prevent water spilling out of the tank. That's assuming...

    Best custom tank builders UK?

I'm currently talking to Sigma Aquatics in the West Midlands about a custom opti white tank. Might be worth getting a price from them https://sigma-aquatics.com/

    Best custom tank builders UK?

Interesting, 500mm height will be down to the 12mm glass thickness, I'm guessing. Real shame I've only got room for a 1180mm long tank!

AQUARIUM WITH BUILT IN FILTRATION COMPARTMENT

One of the main things to think about is the size of the 'overflow' which then comes down to all sorts of maths around hydraulics. The width of the opening into the filter section (lets call it a weir) along with it's height will dictate the maximum flow rate that can be achieved. Of course...

    100x30x30 tank

Not sure I'd like to use that as a stand, you're relying on the fixings holding the top horizontal member to take the weight and not sheer.

    Electrical wiring advice

Personally I'd be looking at 2.5mm2 cable. Whilst in theory 10x300w is within the limit of a single 13A plug it's a bit close, blowing the fuse on a 13A plug will take 10 tanks heating off line. The other thing that you have to consider is what you're plugging the 13A plugs into ? If it's three...

    100x30x30 tank

If you read the assembly guide, the top shelf actually has the best construction for load transfer, I've included screenshots below. But effectively load is transmitted directly down into the legs, with no parts of the construction being exposed to shear forces. It should be noted however that...

    Tank over hang

Something to note here is that other tank manufacturers also adopt this approach Red See do it on their Reefer range of tanks.
