Where do I find a low-tech journal?

Does anyone know of a decent journal for a low-tech aquarium? I know each set-up is different and I'm currently running a relatively algae free high-tech planted tank but feel that I'm neglecting the family on my only day off (Sunday) maintaining the tank.

I know the basics of the theory but need the nuts and bolts: lighting, flow, dosing, w/c, critters, plants (I know crypts are good).

I've got loads of Oli Knotts substrate to put to good use (Thanks again TDI). I'm looking at getting a 120 or 180 litre tank and using my new EX1200 filter that's been sitting in my garage for the last year.

I've tried this in the search facility but there are thousands of "low-tech" results. I just haven't got the time to trawl through all of them (hence the low-tech set-up requirement): just haven't got the time :) !

Any pointers in the right direction (of a journal) would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi all,
It is not a journal, but Diana Walstad's book is a useful reference.

Another web site with some very useful information for low tech aquarists is the "Skeptical Aquarist", Brett doesn't up date it any more, but the pages on biofilm, nutrient cycling etc. are still some of the best written pages you will find.

Otherwise have a look at: <http://ukaps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=8592&start=10> this links into a number of other threads and should give you what you want.

cheers Darrel

I tried that method for about 9 months or so and was really pleased with it.
I used to go an average of 1 out of 3 weeks with no fert dosing at all. Slow steady growth throughout (crypts, swords and mosses).

Thanks for doing the "leg work" for me Darrel, I've heard of Diana W's method but not read it. I'll check the others out too. Much appreciated

Hi
Another one for you. Tom Barr's take on low tech non CO2. I'm currently trying this.

Thanks Ollie, I'll have a read of that one too when I get a moment.
