Cheap 150w MH lamps?

Email the guy in charge he's extrememly helpful. They're a standard fitting as best I know though, a lot of people were diying regular flood lighting into halides so it would make sense if they're standard.

Yes, atleast thats whats in my arcadia. type Rx7s
Using exact same bulb i find the colour rendition to be slightly yellow

yes, the 5400 will very warm indeed. My arcadia pendant came with a 5400, which was too warm.

it's a shame you cant get get the osram skywhite 880 rated @ 8000K equivalent in MH....these produce the most amazing greens in a planted tank!

Just wondering how come people use cheap fluorescent fittings but always pick branded MHs ? I have seen them for £ 8-10 at places like Maplin. Obviously the bulb would need to be changed but other than that what seems to be the problem ?

I believe that it's the light spread, ours tend to be focused as a spot light where as cheap ones by definition are flood lights. There are some very cheap halides on ebay that look very good indeed, small tidy, industrial looking, but it's that people don't like playing with new products that are so key, I think.

Hi all,

Are these the correct fitting for a 150w metal halide unit, please?

Any developments, i have the Arcadia 150, with their 5K bulb, and Im likewise looking at sourcing a cheap, but acceptable alternative.
This at a third of the price seems very tempting. and at 5200K is very close. In any case always handy to have a spare.

This one from the same supplier, and identical 5200K, made by Osram.....
How does this compare??
