Cleaning filter sponges

when they become clogged enough to rerduce flow visibly. Remove from filter and rinse in tank water, not tap as chlorine will damage / kill some bacteria.

I was wondering how ofter you all clean the sponges and how and i'm unsure on when to do it.

To keep our water flow at its optimal level i clean my every 4 weeks, use the water from / whilst doing your water change (on the day your decide to clean the sponges) and clean the sponges in the water you have removed.

paul.

Thanks guys, was unsure if to do all sponges at the same time, looks like I do.
I'd do all the sponges but don't touch any ceramic media if you have any. If you only have sponges then i'd leave at least one untouched.
