Thought one of my cherry shrimp had passed on last night - it was lying upside down and was laden with bright yellow eggs.

As I watched, the cardinals (only small little things!) were all beginning to gang up on the shrimp, nipping at the eggs.

I tapped the glass and they all went, then came back quickly. After a few taps the shrimp turned over but was still being harrassed by the fish - every now and again it would drop an egg which the fish went for instantly.

The shrimp has survived the night, but unsure how well the eggs will do!

What's a Sudanese Cardinal? Never heard of them before.

Cardinal Tetras can be surprisingly aggressive against cherry shrimp when the gang mentality takes over. Of course very heavy planting helps give shrimp cover to dive into when harassed.
