You might end up with a pocket of CO2 forming at the top of the filter, which will clear itself when kicked! I haven't run an inline diffuser on an inlet, just a normal ceramic one under the inlet pipe.

Not many run the in-line atomiser in the in-let side because the detritus could clog up the atomiser.
Its best run from the out-let end as the water should be a lot cleaner.
Making it less likely that the atomiser would get fouled up with gunk.
