I'm pretty sure there's at least one dead fish in my tank. But without dismantling half the tank I'm pretty sure I'll never find it.
Other fish have died but with no visible causes.
How bad is it to leave a corpse in a tank?

Alway's a good idea to remove rotting or decaying material in my view.(especially in smaller volumes of water)
Fishes feeding from corpse as they often do ,could result in other fishes succumbing to whatever might have killed the fish if pathogen can be spread in such a way.
In smaller bodies of water it could give rise to ammonia level's .

I agree.

But if you can't find it / get to it, a small army of shrimp would help get rid pretty quick.

I've almost never found a corpse in any of my tanks - but I don't keep any big fish. If you don't see it later today I don't think you ever will!!

As long as the tank's not tiny, it probably won't matter at all, although, as previous posters said, if you do see it, better to take it out.

Maybe if you don't see it, just don't feed for two days to compensate?
