Not sure if this belongs in this topic or one of the others

Will shrimp be ok when using EI method?

I ask because I recently 5 shrimp (before using EI method and using bought ferts) and lost all of them. I put this down to copper being present based on people's advice. So I have switched to EI method now

But I see that copper is listed in the TNC trace mix which I bought on reading James' planted tank advice for EI method.

Will this mean if I buy shrimp again they will die?

Hi all

As Alastair says, they will be fine :D
To put your mind at rest, I have run a tank using double the recommended EI values for 9 months, to see what would happen :wideyed: . Apart from mental plant growth rate (CO2 had to be ramped up too  ), the fish and shrimp were fine. In fact the shrimp just carried on breeding.
The copper in the Trace mix is so small it shouldn't affect the shrimp.
To lose 5 shrimp in one go, I think you are right to suspect water quality issues.
