I am setting up a rimless shrimp tank which is 45l and is cuboid rather than cube, but resembles the cube tanks. I want carpetting plants. These are what I am considering:

or the ebay alternatives, similar to arc pods.

I would really value your expert advice as to the best lighting solution for this application. Whilst I am familiar with the wattage of T5s the LED sizes confuse me.

This is the tank, it has a clip on glass lid with space to accomodate a lamp

Depends on a) are you planning to go high tech with CO2 injection and b) what's your budget?

For medium to high light I doubt any of those you linked to will make you happy. The LEDs look like normal output LEDs, which are a bit naff from my experience. The 2 links to the Boyu 3 x8w T5 are the same unit, and those T5s are normal output, not HOs, would work for low to medium light setups, but beyond that will fall short.

If you are on a tight budget, then I once had a 2 lamp UpAqua 2x18 watt PLL unit that packs out some serious light and each lamp has a switch so if it proves too much you can turn one off. If your budget is rather fat though, as in £180 fat, you'll fall in love with an Arcadia EcoAqua 30 watt LED spotlight white, and so will your plants so long as you get good CO2, flow and dosing.

I dont have a huge budget, this is my 6th tank and by no means my main display tank, so Im not spending like mad on it. I will see if I can find the UpAqua, thanks.
