eheim filter media

hi

i have an eheim 2026 and i am considering changing the media (been a few years since i last changed) given i am about to perform a tank tear down i want to see what options i have on changing the filter media for something cheaper can anyone suggest anything i can look into?

Alfa grog. It's great stuff. Not as restrictive and allows better flow and is silly cheap. I've got my 2080 full of it

i'd never heard of it until now. do you have in all the trays then?
I think i'll give it wirl, its years since i replaced the filter media and a tear down seems about the right time.

PS loving the jungle, thinking of something similar myself

I've got some mechanical rings on the bottom to catch any bigger particles, with some Alfa grog placed on top then all my other trays are full of it. I had to break a few pieces up as they were a bit big. Then the filter wool lastly. With the Alfa grog too it's also very porous internally too which I'd have thought would be an added benefit. £15 for 15kg of the stuff? A life's time supply of filter media.

Alfagrog. It's great stuff.

i've gone with some sera siporax and some alfagrog - i'll let u know if i see any improvements over my bog standard eheim media
