I planted a load of Echinodorus Tenellus last week. It's quite tall. Tomorrow I will trim it for the first time but I don't know how much. Apparently it will grow better if I trim it short but just how short? I don't want to kill it!

Any help much appreciated...

ive been looking at tennelus for my new tank and it seems general consensus is that you just mow it like a lawn almost to the substrate. You just have to have faith it will come back stronger. This is also what 'expert' mark evans did with a past scape... if its good enough for him.....

ok thanks, it's been in there 8 days so maybe I will do half now and half next week

After a week, it should have settled in.

Trimming it down to the ground works best. Trimming will also stop the runners, or at least slow them down. Trimming also encourages shorter, often redder growth. :D
