Eheim 2180...cover for intake???

Hi,
I have the thermo filter above which has 2 intakes.
I was looking for something to put over the intakes so small shrimp wont get sucked into the external, but doesnt restrict the flow too much??
I heard cutting up an old net might work....any other suggestions??

You could slip a sponge over the intake but it won't look very nice!

ebay or google, you can get either metal or sponge cyclinders that slide over the end of the intake, instead of the green basket you get as standard

or just tights tied on..... works fine.

Some people have bought sheets of filter foam like this
http://www.finest-filters.co.uk/diy-media-sheets/diy-foam-filter-sheets
and either rolled it around their intakes or stacked up loads of ring shaped pieces over their intakes.
