i would use it, a lot of fruiting wood will be fine. some exceptions i would avoid - ie, horse chestnut.

Haven't used it myself, but I'd expect it to be OK. May break down quite quickly compared to actual bog wood, but probably just as good as any collected wood. Tends to be quite floaty, by all accounts, so you'll need to weight it down well.

Definitely give it a go, with the provisos that BigTom added. The sand blasting should have got rid of any soft bits.
