Hi all just want to check something before i do something i maybe shouldn't  I've got an overtank luminaire with a two prong plug (from Asia somewhere i should think) and want to know if its ok to cut the plug off and pop on a good old British plug?

you need to check that the voltage input is 220v, if it is a multi voltage device ie 110v/220v 60/50hz then you will be fine.

is it two prong round or O O or flat I I

also does it have the plug at the end of the wires or is it in a brick? i might be best to put up a picture to be 100% sure

Flat like this

I did with my European plug on a filter. Only be a live and neutral wire in there so lop it off and wire to a British plug. Job done :)
