tube size for eheim ecco 130

Hi, can anyone suggest what size of clear tubing is best to replace the ecco 12/16mm tubing. I can find 12/15 or 12/18. I'd rather use the 12/18 but would the plastic caps on the taps still be able to screw up over it to hold in place?
