Im just about to set up a low tech dirt tank and thought I had everything set, then I had the bright idea to test my tap water for ph and the results have me a bit worried / confused as to what to do about water changes

Ph straight from tap 6.2
Ph after standing (12 hours) 7.6
Ph after standing (24 hours) 8.2

Ive tested it everday for the last 6 days and all the results are within 0.2 of the above

So what should regarding water changes ? Should I wait the 24 hours for it to gas off as im concerned about fluctuations in co2 and the resulting algae problems

Thanks in advance

Do water changes long before lights on , or after lights out.

Or as you said, fill a bucket of tap o water and leave it overnight to de-gass
