Aponogenton planting?

Sit on top of the substrate and let it do its own thing. You may have to use weights to begin with. If you bury the bulb chances are it'll rot. It works with crypt rhizomes as well.
 
Yep - Aponogeton crispus and it's cultivar Apon. crispus 'red', don't have as big bulb as most other Aponogetons. Besides, the cultivar ('red') is grown from tissue culture and will develop the bulb after having grown in your tank for a while.
- therefore you need to actually plant Aponogeton crispus (and 'red') into your soil/gravel. Plant it same depth it was in the pot. It'll grow faster and better, if you can provide nutrients by inserting a root-tab (bottom-fertiliser) under it !!
It's a really nice plant, that will - given good conditions - become an intense, allmost beat-red colour in curly leaves.
