Light Dimming

How do you guys dim your lights before they turn off? Could i do this to t8's? Or is it a specific sort of lighting system?

you could set timers to phase in your tubes 1 at a time and off again 1 at a time or look at changing to dim-able lights like leds

I think you need a dimable ballast for this, have a google around for a diy solution mate.

there are special "starters" for that. I don't know if you call them that but it's the little changeble tube like thing that starts up the bulb. These are hardwired to slowly power up over 30 minutes and after 8 hours dim down over 30 minutes and then stay dimmed at some % till turned off. Had some in my vivarium a few years back.

I see tim, how would I DIY a ballast? lol would this be what i'm looking for mate? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tridonic-..._Measurement_Equipment_ET&hash=item43c41021c1 I have two 38watt tubes, but they would work on this right? Would it work entirely from the timer or...?

And arne would you be able to give me an example of this mate?

Lol, I should be more specific with my posts, a diy solution to fading in/ out t8 bulbs arnes solution sounds interesting.

Yeah i get you, it does sound interesting. I wonder if he means the white switch thing you can get on the interpet ballasts?
