Moss?

Other half got me some plants and moss for my birthday looking at the moss though which was sold to her as java moss it looks like xmas moss any help?

Nice lot of moss, agreed it doesn't look like Java moss, which is much "stringier". Have a look here: <http://www.aquamoss.net/Moss-List.htm> and pick a name.http://www.aquamoss.net/Moss-List.htm

A way of telling Taxiphyllum spp. (like Java moss - T. barbieri) from Vesicularia sp. like Christmas Moss (Vesicularia montagnei) is the texture of the fronds, Taxiphyllum species feel really soft, but Vesicularia spp. are much tougher and slightly "gritty".

Because your moss fronds are sticking out in the photo, and not semi-collapsed, a Vesicularia sp. would be my guess as well.

Yeah I def think it is Christmas Moss (Vesicularia montagnei) and im actually glad I got it instead as it looks lovely on my redmoor root now
