JBL Direct CO2 Test

Yes yes I know test kits officially 'suck' but I noticed on the website below a 'direct' CO2 test. They claim it isn't simply measuring pH but CO2 itself somehow by titration

Yeah, seems like a very old idea with a major Achilles Heel, especially when it comes to aquariums. Way to go JBL!

Going to wish I never asked this but does

The carbon dioxide in the solution will react with the sodium hydroxide to form sodium bicarbonate. By using an indicator such as phenolphthalein, you can determine when all of the carbon dioxide in the water has been consumed.

Not sure what it means but is that not saying why it measures co2 as oppose to other acids?
