Fish Finatics - Slightly less nervous

Dear All,

I have had an 120x50x45 optiwhite braceless and stand on order since 1st February with Fish Finatics - we are in week 19 of the process. I was told by Sue they were very busy but I'm getting very nervous that this tank will ever turn up. I was given a 12 week lead time.

I'm not sure if Sue is simply a bit of a yes man, so to speak. She has promised on three separate occasions I would be given a delivery date the following day which is still yet to materialise blaming 'email problems'

Please could someone here reassure me I'm not about to:
A. Have the company fold on me
B. Try and recoup my £500 only half of which I foolishly put on a credit card.

So far I've been very patient with Fish Finatics but I'm starting to get the feeling I'm being fobbed off.....

:(

Double check this, but I don't think that matters, as the item was over £100. I don't think you need to put the full amount of the item on the card for it to be protected.

Anyway hopefully it won't get that far and they'll sort things out. Nothing worse than poor comms from a company who have your money!

Thank you, reassuring there might well be some protection out there. Hopefully I don't need to go down this route....

Honestly I'd ask for the money back as a matter of principle. I don't care if they can get it eventually, 2 months late is a bit of a pisstake! Good luck anyways...

you are covered on the card even if you only put a tiny fraction of the total on the credit card as far as i know.

Ill leave these links here from the search. By all accounts you will get a good quality tank its just the "when" thats always up in the air with them :(

My 90cm was from them before they went bust the last time and changed their name and I had the same problems with delivery. (The tank is still going now)

Stu - Honoured you've taken the time to reply.

Reading the links I am having a carbon copy experience. Given the delays and constant chasing from my end I have never once had an apology. It's such a shame, especially as I do only seem to read about the great quality of the product vs. the terrible quality of the customer service / order management.

Having a little dig around the 'net last night I found an order in week 21 on a Marine forum too.

I'm so excited about starting the tank up and all of the kit is sat in the garage. My Amazonia has been soaking in two buckets for months now!

Thanks

I placed an order with them, but just for eggcrate and only around £35. It went on for ages, e-mails not replied to and I was then told on the phone that they have a problem with some e-mail services and they had responded, I just hadn't received it etc. It went on for weeks with the item supposedly coming in stock soon, eventually I asked for a refund and was told I would get it. The money didn't go back on the card, I don't remember the excuse now, but when I phoned to chase up there had been some issue and then the money was eventually refunded. I certainly wouldn't buy from them again.

If customer service is that bad it doesn't matter how good the product is...maybe that's why they went out of business before...that in itself should set alarm bells ringing...ask for a refund and don't deal with them.

I also ordered a tank from Fish Fanatics at the end of Jan.

They've just confirmed that my tank is now ready for collection (I live within an hour's drive of their factory).

Hopefully your tank will be reaching the top of the list and you will hear from them very soon when your tank is due for delivery.

Dear All,

Thank you for your comments and advice. Like AndyMcD I too ordered end of January and after a slightly stroppy phone call followed up by an equally stroppy email 'I will being instructing my credit card issuer to retrieve my payment' I have received a flurry of emails along with a delivery date of Friday 26th.

It's a terrible shame the flurry of emails did not contain a single apology for the delay, and likewise it is sad that seemingly the only way to make progress with my order was to have a wobbly at them. As others have highlighted I am hopeful that the quality of the product will far far far outweigh the quality of the service.

My 250L discus journal will be up and running in the not too distant future.

Again, thank you all for the help & advice.

Best
Garry

Stand down people! The tank & stand arrived on Friday. All planted up and running nicely. Quality of build is good, one of the cabinet doors needs a little tweak on the kitchen hinge but that's all.

.......now if only I could stop fiddling with it and the water might not be so cloudy!.....over to the journal....
