Eheim 2213 Canister Media Set Up

G'Day all, I have an Eheim 2213 Canister filter, API Bio Chem Zorb, API Nitra Zorb, just wondering what goes where as this will be the first time using Nitra Zorb.

From bottom up, it goes Blue Course Sponge (3 or 4 depending on room), then White Filter Pad (1), then Carbon Pad (1), do I then place the Bio Chem Zorb on or the Nitra Zorb? Or do they go in different sections in the filter?

I'd probably stick them near the top, just so they don't get fouled by debris, but it probably doesn't matter much.

not too sure about the chem zorb is that some kind of activated charcoal. the nitra zorb is for getting nitrates out of the water which seems pretty pointless because you should be adding them for the plants

Most of us here fert with KNO3 and you want to get it out?...If you want the water to be clear, just get some active carbon or purigen, don't chuck your canister full with bio media (some plastic pot scrubs will do fine) and call it a day.

Hi all,
I throw away all the media other than the coarse sponges, and then put another coarse (PPI10) sponge on the intake. You can use the <"Eheim pre-filter">, but I usually just use a drilled sponge block they sell for <"Koi filters"> etc.

I don't like floss etc in the filter because it clogs and slows the flow, if you have an easy clean pre-filter on the intake you can give it a clean every couple of days.
