My shrimp tank is kind of on hold till after Christmas but I did a water change today and noticed that some leaves on the Java fern windolev had turned brown and were quite crispy.

It has been in there just over a month and was attached to driftwood already as LFS didn't have any other Java fern in stock and I was feeling lazy...

I have dosed a small amount of ferts (Tropica macro liquid and Flourish)

I am guessing this was kept submerged at LFS so won't be the plant adapting? The substrate is Tropica Aquarium Soil so it could be adapting to different water parameters?

They're just old dead leaves, they'll pull off easily and they're nothing to worry about. You might find little baby java ferns attached to them sometimes.
Lol the ones in the main tank must be much younger. They are normal Java ferns but have not had any brown or crispy leaves (but have had quite a few new plant spores )

Presumably I should remove them at the rhizome?
