First Tank in 9 Years.............

the bogwood prep is coming along, I manged to boil the large lumps, there now back in soak in hot tap water so fingers crossed they will sink soon and I can start the scape.

I have never has shrimps before and have yet to read up on keeping them!, I take it you need a full cycled tank first?

thought i better give a update - still waiting for a large lump of bogwood to sink, I'm getting bored waiting so next week i'll fix a large rock to the bottom of it and start the scape ....

got the bogwood in the tank today, spent hours getting it just how i wanted it and thought i might as well flood the tank and get everything working ok then order my plants. It was a good job i did it this way because half way through filling with water the tank was leaking from the bottom right hand side  so a rapid drain down later and I'm on the phone to pets@home and they agreed to refund my money and collect the tank and stand tomorrow. I'm not sure what tank to get now, most of my tanks over the years have been Juwel tanks and have never had a problem, but for a planted aquascape i dont think a juwel will work :(

I went with a Juwel tank in the end a Rio 125,
The tank is flooded and the bogwood is in :) still need more soil I think, going to order the plants this week and turn it green ;)
Sorry for the quality of the pic the camera on a iphone is sh1t as we all know

Update - 5 weeks since planting, i have removed the large piece of bogwood from the left hand side and moved the crypts to the right side by the filter. I have few minor issues with hair algae on the moss and the monte carlo died off but has come back in the last week. I'm dosing ferts daily now and water changing 40% twice a week.
Here's a few pic more rubbish quality pics lol

update --- I have had some bad algae issues mainly green hair algae, i thought I had control of it but it has covered the monte carlo and moss and slowly growing in other parts of the tank. I had to remove all Reineckii ' mini ' it was growing well then over a period of 3 - 4 days it melted away and then the algae covered it. I think I know what has caused the issues - over feeding my fish and too much tropica specialised fertiliser. Yesterday I done a 50% water change and removed as much of the algae as I could, turned off the co2 and lights and blacked the tank out I'll leave it till wednesday then uncover and do 50% w/c and clean the filters - fingers crossed it works..............

Update after the 3 day blackout, I uncovered the tank on wednesday and the green hair algae had almost gone I done a 50% wc and removed what I could. I have reduced my lighting period from 7hrs to 5hrs and upped my co2 to as high as I dare go, reduce fish feeding from twice a day to once a day but the algae has come back, I have just done another 50% wc and again removed as much as I could from the moss and monte carlo. I'm at a loss as to what to do now and advice would be welcome!!!

Here's some pics
