Hi all,

Setting up my first aquascape. I'm looking to use either amAzonia or tropica substrate. I want to build the back up as part of a feature. Is it necessary to use a rock under neath?

Thanks

You Dont have to use rocks undernaeth to create the slope.
You can use gravel in tights to bulk up the slope.
Bags of ceramic rings
Lava rocks
I have seen people use Margarine/Tupperware tubs with Holes drilled to allow them to sink. And then Pour the Substrate over the top.

Pantyhoses filled with sand or gravel etc. works pretty well.. You can also shape them with bends or make 'm flat as a pancake and stack in an overlap so the slope isn't to steep at once but gradualy rises in smaller steps. Also color wise, for example black substrate than use black pantyhose. Cheap and never rot..
