Can anyone help work out what’s happening here please?
I recently used some spare airline from an air pump to section off the floaters from being drawn into the skimmer. Today (less than a week since installing) I noticed the airline is stained pink. There is some slimey algae on the surface, this appears to be white when scraped off and floating in the water column. Some diatoms too. Snails don’t seem to mind it. It doesn’t appear to be removable. Could it be from the fish food (red granules)? Is it anything to be worried about? Or do anything about?
Thanks for reading!

Probably some kind of bacterial bio film. Unlikely to be harmful.

There’s a phenomenon called Purple Catheter Bag syndrome, where bacteria stain catheter bags an indigo colour.

Probably a similar process here. A number of algae also have pigments but this sounds different from the “Red Tide” algae bloom seen in lakes!
