So, I am new to this society and I’m happy to be here!

I am in the process of planing for my new scape. I have been able to grow plants really well with budget lighting, and the use of C02.

The setup is going to be as follows:

Tank: AquaScaper 600
Filtration: Eheim experience 250, steel lily pipes, with circulation pump for oxygenation
C02 system: Tropica Bio
Light: Twinstar V3 600E
Fertiliser: Tropica Specialised Nutrition
Background: ADA Frosted glass

I’ve put a deposit down for the tank, but it won’t be delivered until the end of february 🥲

It will be a nature Style aquarium, with a carpet of Monte Carlo in the foreground, however I’m still deciding on the mid ground and stems. I think i may use some crypts and rotala. I do want red plants as well.

Any help and suggestions will be appreciated, does anyone have any AquaScaper 600 setups i can see? I will be updating this thread over the next few weeks on my journey to my new aquascape.

So i have decided and purchased my new rock hardscape, the rock used is aquarium landscaping rock which has very detailed lines. I am deciding now, should i go with an iwagumi with carpet at the front and mid ground plants in the middle and stems at the back? or should i find a couple of pieces of manzanita wood to create a nature style?

Not to poop on your parade if you’ve already purchased the rocks, you will really struggle to create an Iwagumi with rocks that are all identical in shape and size.

I don't think what I suggest or any other suggestions matter in this case. Go out to shop and check what is in stock and what do you like in terms of types, shapes and colours.. for me it is a painting and you are the artist. Just have an idea in your mind what you aiming for and remain agile.

In terms of rock placement.. same.. go play with it.. that's your sandbox. 👍👍

When you step in to this mess of aquascaping it is a trial and error case.. for inspirational tutorials and philosophy of aquascaping I suggest to check GreenAqua YouTube channel.. it is a good one to start with :)

@Lauris good advise i appreciate it! i have watched loads of videos for inspiration, but i can never do it in a style or way that i like! as you said, all about trial and error, i’m going to my local shop tomorrow so i’ll post an update and hopefully i can get a nice scape 🙂

Exactly how @Lauris put it, strive to create something that makes you happy, that’s ultimately the most important thing.
I’d personally go for manzanita as you typically get more for your money.
Don’t be shy in reaching out to some of the sponsors, they stock almost everything between them and will happily help you create something you’re happy with using their stock.

So a little update on my tank build, i have bought the superfish scaper 45 as a temporary tank for my plants and 4 cherry barbs to start planning the space for my new tank. i will be using my external filter on this tank so i can keep the cycle efficiently for the aquascaper 600 install at the end of the month. I’m really excited to test out this superfish scaper tank, as they come with great equipment for a small price tag!

So the temporary tank is in! with a long wait with decorating and the tank being delivered i have used stuff from my old scape and created a little fallen tree type aquascape - the superfish range of aquascaping tanks are brilliant!

So this is going to be the scape for my big tank when it arrives! different stones but i really like the manzanita layout as it has many different pieces that i can create good lines with and have a place of interest on the right hand side.I’m really pleased with this, i have also attached my plant list, going for a mixture of reds and greens.

So i haven’t been active on my journal for a while because of work and everything so i have got quite a few updates to my scape!
I have upgraded my filtration system to an oase bio master thermo 250, and it is one hell of a filter.
I have also decided that I’m going to be going for a pressurised canister system to be able to provide co2 to my plants after much needed research.
I also invested in a new glass lily pipe work set from evolution aqua, and the quality of the pipe and surface skimmer are great!
My tank has arrived and is currently waiting in another room whilst the decoration of the room the tank is going to be in is being sorted
And all my manzanita wood is soaking to release all the tannins and to make sure it sinks when it is time for the scape.
This has been an amazing journey so far, and it has been worth the wait to be able to do this scape properly, normally i dive into scapes straight away and make mistakes but this time I’m doing everything properly.
I still have to wait to buy my co2 system, soil and plants, as I’m budgeting a lot of the cost over a few months.
I’m 17 years old, and I’m really interested in aquatic plants and creating ecosystems, and i believe everyone my age should dive into aquascaping because it has been one of the best things i have done.
I will update my feed tomorrow with plenty of photos, and my nano 45L tank has grown in a lot since i last posted a photo haha!

So here it is! The aquascaper 600 in it’s chosen spot. Still a bit of decoration to do on the walls and skirting but hopefully that will be done by the end of march when i will be setting this tank up. Really impressed with the quality and i can’t wait to scape this. Now time for some decorating!

Nothing quite like a blank canvas, clean aquarium, set up just so, and the anticipation of what's to come.
And nice to be able to follow your journey in a journal
