Vallisneria Spiralis - Another Question

It says on the plastic name tag that came with Vallisneria Spiralis I purchased recently and I quote Do not bury the crown. Place roots gently in the substrate, but keep the juncture of roots and crown abobe the gravel. The problem is that some of the plants do not have any roots so it is impossible to anchor the plants without burying the crowns! :? Is there a trick I am missing?

Just let them float for a few days on the water surface; it will soon enough make new roots.
